Intel Changing Processor Names...

Intel's Director of Global Communications, Bernard Fernandes, announced on Twitter today that the chip manufacturer is planning to make some changes to their chip branding later this year. This move is said to be in response to the company being at an "inflection point" ahead of the launch of their Meteor Lake architecture client CPUs, and their development of a new branding strategy for their first mass-scale chiplet-based consumer CPU. While the tweet does not directly address the recent rumors surrounding a change in the branding strategy for Intel's Core family of consumer chips, it is widely believed to be in response to them. The current Core branding has been consistent for 13 generations of parts, with the addition of the i9 tier and suffixes over the years. Although Intel's tweet does not confirm the rumored Ultra branding, it indicates that a branding change is in the works to align with the Meteor Lake launch.
