New Corsair MP700...
Corsair has launched its first PCIe 5.0 SSD, the MP700, which promises high-speed performance and ample capacity. It has sequential speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s, which puts it in competition with other high-end SSDs on the market. It comes in M.2 2280 form factor and fits into the PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 interface. It also supports the latest NVMe 2.0 protocol. The SSD has a double-side design and uses the Phison PS5026-E26 PCIe 5.0 SSD controller and Micron 232-layer 3D TLC NAND.
Corsair initially advertised the MP700 with a thick cooler but later decided to commercialize the drive without one. However, the SSD is likely to suffer thermal throttling if run without cooling. To ensure optimal operation, users should use the motherboard's integrated M.2 heatsink or an aftermarket M.2 SSD cooler with the MP700. It also features a decent DRAM package, with the 2 TB version having 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory.
The MP700's flagship performance comes at a cost of power consumption. The rated power consumption of the MP700 is around 10 watts for the 1 TB model and 10.5 watts for the 2 TB model, substantially more than some PCIe 4.0 drives. The MP700 has an endurance of 700 TBW for the 1 TB presentation and 1,400 TBW for the 2 TB flavor. Corsair sells the MP700 1 TB for $169.99 and the MP700 2 TB for $289.99. The MP700 is available on Corsair's website and authorized worldwide retailers and distributors.
