Google I/O 2023...
Google's annual developer conference, I/O, will kick off on May 10th, and it will focus on Android 14, among other things. CEO Sundar Pichai will likely emphasize the company's leadership in artificial intelligence. While hardware is a bit unpredictable at developer conferences, the Pixel 7a is expected to be launched at the event. It will likely be similar in design to the Pixel 7, but with cheaper materials. Rumors suggest a 6.1-inch device with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 64-megapixel rear camera.
Google is also expected to make an official announcement about its Pixel Tablet, which was confirmed at last year's I/O event. The leaks suggest a design that would make the system into one giant Nest dock, which would be different from the iPad model, which is common in the industry. It may also feature the Tensor G2 and 8GB of RAM.
The Pixel Fold is the wildcard of the event. Google has been laying the groundwork for its foldable for years. Leaked renders suggest a form factor similar to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Oppo's recently launched foldable, with a thickness of half an inch when folded and 0.2 inches when unfolded, weighing 283 grams. Foldables have become mainstream and cost-effective, and almost every Android manufacturer is expected to have its take on the category soon.
Other hardware rumors include a Google/Nest AirTag competitor, new Pixel Buds, and Pixel Watch 2. Google is likely to aggressively target the world's largest smartphone market, India, with its upcoming device.
