The Boring Company Expanding Vegas Loop...
On Wednesday, Clark County, Nevada commissioners granted approval for The Boring Company's project, led by Elon Musk, to extend its underground tunnel system, the "Vegas Loop," which shuttles passengers via Tesla vehicles to alleviate traffic congestion. The expansion will add 25 miles of tunnels and 18 new stations, bringing the total network to 65 miles with 51 stations. The aim is to connect more casinos, retail areas, the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus, and residential neighborhoods. The expansion will be funded entirely by The Boring Company, which raised $675 million last year for Loop projects. The updated plan was approved by a 6-1 vote, with Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick voting against due to concerns about the impact on workers traveling into the city for work and the infrastructure around the airport. The newly planned stations will be placed in areas such as Chinatown, UNLV, Town Square Las Vegas, Harmon Square, and Las Vegas Boulevard near the airport. Although The Boring Company still aims to implement the hyperloop technology, which involves transporting passengers and cargo in pods through low-pressure tubes at over 600 miles per hour, there is no indication that it will be used in the Vegas Loop.
