Fake CPUs from amazon…

AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are launching soon, but the 9800X3D remains a top gaming CPU. YouTube channel Hardware Busters recently tried to buy another one on Amazon—only to receive a blatant counterfeit.

The scam involved swapping the 9800X3D with an old AMD FX processor from 2011, complete with a fake label but completely incompatible with modern AM5 motherboards. The box appeared sealed and legitimate, raising concerns about how the scam happened.

One theory is that a buyer swapped the real CPU for a fake and returned it to Amazon, fooling workers. Another possibility is tampering earlier in the supply chain. The case highlights the importance of checking PC parts immediately upon arrival.
