Apple and Google Joining Forces...
Apple and Google are proposing an industry specification to fight against the misuse of Bluetooth location-tracking devices like AirTag and Tile for stalking or theft. This specification will allow gadgets to be compatible with unauthorized tracking detection and alerts across both iOS and Android ecosystems. The proposed specification has the support of various companies such as Tile, Samsung, Eufy Security, Pebblebee, and Chipolo. The proposal has been submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for review and comment by interested parties over three months, and a production implement of the specification is expected by the end of 2023. In the meantime, Apple has implemented a couple of anti-stalking features in AirTag, including louder alert sounds and warning messages during setup.
