Goodbye Windows 7

With Windows 7 being retired on January 14th 2020, what are some options you have if your business or home computer is running windows 7 or even an older version of windows? What does it mean when an Operating System is retired by Microsoft? We will go over your options and exactly what it means to retire Windows 7 in this blog post.

First what are your options if your computer is running Windows 7 or an older version of Windows that is no longer supported. You can do 1 of 2 things in this situation. Either upgrade or have an IT Business upgrade your current computer to Windows 10 or Buy a new computer that already has Windows 10 preinstalled.

The first option is going to be the cheapest and you won’t lose any information during the upgrade process. Our business will charge between $75-$150 to upgrade your older version of Windows to the newest version of Windows 10, and install all updates. When upgrading to Windows 10 it will inform us if any programs need updated or reinstalled after the process. Also all of your information will still be on the compute such as documents, pictures, videos, and user accounts. This is the most cost effective way of upgrading to Windows 10.

The second option is buying a new or refurbished computer that already has windows 10 installed. This is going to be the most expensive option but you will also be receiving a new or refurbished computer. Our company sells Refurbished Computers starting at $249.99 including the newest version of Windows 10 preinstalled. We can also transfer all your applications, documents, pictures, videos, and user accounts, but we charge $100 to transfer everything to your new computer.

With Windows 7 being retired that means your current version will no longer receive updates from Microsoft for security issues or software issues or any kind. You will no longer be protected when using the internet or downloading programs, documents, or anything on the internet. This is very important as your computer can become infected or even worse hijacked by ransomware which will delete all your information and ask for money to give it back to you, which they never do. They take the money and run. Its very important that if you are running Windows 7 after January 14th 2020 that you upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as possible and do not use your computer.
