Project Zero by MSI...
You're likely familiar with the idea of a paperless office, but have you ever considered a PC without cables? Those who've assembled or upgraded desktop systems know the tangle of wires: front panel connections, power supply cables, older drive cables, fan connections, and more.
Imagine if all those cables could vanish. As of now, that's not achievable. There have been impractical prototypes attempting modular power connections, but nothing truly eliminates PC wiring.
However, what if we could create the illusion? At Computex 2023, Asus presented BTF (Back-To-the-Future), their answer to a wire-free PC. This, along with similar solutions, aims primarily at aesthetics, especially for PCs with glass side panels. The focus is on a clean, wire-free interior, optimizing airflow and enhancing the PC's visual appeal.
But, to be clear, the cables haven't disappeared. In Asus' case, they're hidden behind solid side panels, tucked away along the motherboard's back. This design trick creates a clean interior look. Asus also showcased a graphics card with an underside power connector, drawing power directly through the motherboard, eliminating external cables.
MSI is developing a comparable cable-hiding PC, called "Project Zero," arriving in the US around mid-January. An early peek at the hardware and a test build happened just before CES 2024, giving insights into its functionality.
