Windows 11 and iMessage...
Windows 11 now allows iPhone users to link their devices with their Windows PCs, providing some functionality previously exclusive to Mac users. However, the experience is not as seamless as with a Mac. By using Microsoft's Phone Link app, users can interact with iPhone text messages, make phone calls, and receive phone notifications. However, there are a few limitations to consider:
Group, picture, and other media messages won't be displayed in conversation threads, although notifications for these types of messages will still appear.
Only texts sent and received after pairing will be shown in message conversations, and this will start with the second message received from a contact, even if there is an ongoing thread.
Texts sent through the phone won't be visible in the conversation history on the PC.
Not all iPhone apps currently support sending notifications to a PC.
Despite these limitations, the ability to partially untether from the iPhone while using a PC is still liberating. It reduces the need to frequently check the iPhone or Apple Watch. The process of connecting the two devices is straightforward. However, it's important to note that if someone knows the iPhone passcode, they can pair the Phone Link app without your knowledge and access your communications and notifications. To prevent unwanted monitoring, protect your PIN and periodically check your Bluetooth settings for any unknown paired and connected devices to your phone.
